New Orleans ( OR-l(ee)ənz, or-LEENZ, locally OR-lənz; French: La Nouvelle-Orléans [la nuvɛlɔʁleɑ̃] ), commonly known as NOLA or the Big Easy among other nicknames, is a consolidated city-parish located along the Mississippi River in the southeastern region of the U.S. state of Louisiana.
